about us

Two Flame Tango was born from the desire of two artists to bring simplicity into their dance. We created a school that explores the philosophy of movement as much as the expression of it.

We offer courses for creative individuals that would like to study artistic principles through the dance of tango.

Two Flame does not teach flashy, stage or performance tango. Instead, we teach an intimate dialogue of body language.

Our Vision

1. A Somatic Tango Community

We focus on the direct experience of the body because everything else comes from there. By being more comfortable and skillful in your movement, you will be more comfortable and skillful in every aspect of your personal and social life.

We come here to study ourselves through the other. We believe self development can be fun, accessible, social, and easy.

Experience life in all possible ways —
good-bad, bitter-sweet, dark-light,
summer-winter. Experience all the dualities.
Don’t be afraid of experience, because
the more experience you have, the more
mature you become.
― Osho

2. An Integrated Arts Education

Tango provides us with an artistic medium to develop several skills at the same time.

We learn how to fine tune our body in motion.

We learn musical skills and how to play this instrument of the body with rhythm and melody.

And we also learn interpersonal skills. Tango is an opportunity to bring your best self to the person in your arms, which is a skill that needs practice.

Tango is about attunement, about oneness.  Tango is every bit as rigorous, spiritual, and austere as Zen Buddhism could ever be. – Bruce Fertman

3. It's Better with Everyone

Statement of Inclusion.

We welcome everyone seeking greater embodied freedom. This includes all races, colors, religions, sexes, gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, national origins, genetics, body types, abilities (visible and invisible), ages, immigrant statuses and economic statuses.

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

Our Staff

Christopher

Christopher is a visual artist who, in 2005, walked into a tango class, discovered an unknown universe of culture, artistic expression and human experience and never looked back.

He is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and has been helping people study tango for more than 10 years.

Sofe

We can so easily disconnect from our hearts and find safety in our minds. The tango I wish to teach is emotional, connective, and respectful of the individual in your arms.
